Fabrics
Fabrics are the most important inspiration and resource for designers. However mainstream apparel and accessory designers are limited to the fabrics that are currently available in their price range. Designers shop at international textile markets or fabric showrooms in New York and Los Angeles to see the current fabric lines. Fabric designers do the same market and trend research as do apparel and accessory designers. They also have the same sources of inspiration especially in fabric or at the fabric market fairs. There are even textile swatch services that specialize in vintage fabrics. Designers such as martin margiela and Miguel adrover even use recycled fabrics and parts of old garments.
